Moving to a new town means that there may be a little bit of an adjustment period. Even for couples and families it can take time to make friends and feel like a member of the community. To ease this transition period, the realtors at Realty Resources suggest jumping right into the exciting events taking place this summer in St. Pete. Hang out at the local bar, see a show, and maybe meet a neighbor or two that will turn into a lasting friendship. The residents of St. Petersburg are always welcoming newcomers and can’t wait to show you around. Here are some things we’re looking forward to.
Friday Night Music Series
What’s better than live music on a Friday night? Free live music on a Friday night. Located at the Sundial, an outdoor shopping and dining center that is steps away from the waterfront, you can shop, dine, and watch the sunset while listening to some fantastic music. This event takes place each Friday night and musicians start playing at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Up next is June 30th where you can experience the sounds of J.T. Brown. Brown loves to jam out Spacefolk, Soul, and Rock & Roll. Come back each Friday to check out local talent including DJs, singer-songwriters, folk artists, and jazz ensembles.
Celebrate with your new neighbors the birth of our country in style. There are several fireworks shows that will light up the sky, but you don’t need to go far to enjoy a night of fun. Starting at 9 p.m. on July 4th, the fireworks display will shine over Tampa Bay. Set up a lawn chair and settle into the sand of St. Pete’s Spa Beach Park.
First Friday St. Pete
There won’t be a shortage of (free!) things to do on a Friday night in St. Petersburg. Also each Friday night, this event features live music and dancing in the streets between 2nd and 3rd street (not avenue) on Central Avenue North. Come grab a drink and dance the night away from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Start planning on spending July 7th listening to Dark Horse, a country and southern rock band that has been entertaining the ‘Burg for almost 15 years.
St. Pete Road Runners Beach Series
Get your heart pumping and watch a beautiful sunrise while you’re at it. This isn’t your typical race, the largest 5k in the area takes place at St. Pete Beach, entirely in the sand. Registration is $35 and includes an after-race party at The Hurricane, a free buffet, live music, and drinks. The race is on July 21st at 7 p.m.
Better join this tour fast, they fill up quickly! The next available tour is on July 29th at 9 a.m., the perfect time for an espresso. For $30, you can enjoy a three-hour walk through St. Pete that hits up three coffee shops. Learn how to brew coffee, different methods of brewing, and different roasters from across the country.
This is just a taste of what St. Petersburg has to offer you this summer, and there’s much more to come, including Yoga at the Dali, Tampa Bay Rays games, theater, and fine art. If you’re looking to buy a house in the area, we’re not worried about you being able to fit in with the locals.
